Film Studies
This is a fact or fiction table. We were given some facts that we had to place on the table. we had to think if they were true or false?. It turned out to be that all the facts were true whereas we got 70% right. I was tricked into thinking that some of them were false but they were all true.
What do you think the Top 100 films are?
We then had to think of the top 100 movies that were shown around the world. Me and Harry started to think of different geners at first but then just started saying the movies that we thought had made the top 10. After thinking of around 50 movies we went back to thinking of genres. for example horror genre would have included scream, scary movie, nightmare on elm street, we then went through comdey, action, fantasy and family genres and thought more until we cound't think of anymore.

Why do you watch these types of films?
I watch these types of films mainly because of the action and comedy genre. I also watch them because the story lines are interesting and that you understand the storyline easily. Also i watch them as they would have been big releases when they were released and also everyone would have watched them. Another reason why i watch movies is because my friends would recommend them to me, that i go and watch them.

I mainly go to the cinema after 2 months or if a big name movie has been released in between 2 months.
Do you enjoy going and is it different from watching it on TV?
I enjoy going to the cinema as you would meet up friends and them watch the movie. Also if the movie was good then i would have enjoyed going to the cinema. Watching a movie on a TV is different as you would watch at home, this is different to the cinema as you are in a different environment. This would also refresh your memory of the film as you would not have remembered everything from watching in the cinema.
How often do you watch films on terrestrial TV?

I watch DVD's and BLU RAYS on a a BLU RAY player which i watch at home.
How the Experience changes when watching with two people or more?
When watching a film myself the experience is different as no one else would be taking or moving around as you would be alone watching it at home. I have never been alone to watch a movie in a cinema. When watching a movie in a cinema with a group of people or someone it is different as you might talk as well but you would know that you have someone with you as you watch the movie. Also it makes the experience better as you would enjoy the movie more in a cinema with someone else.
When did you first go to the cinema?
I first went to the cinema when i was 11 and i watched The fast and furious: Tokyo Drift
What can you remember about the experience?
My first time experience was quite interesting as i got to find out what a cinema would look like from inside and where you would sit to watch a film. Also i found the film quite good and as it was my first time going to a cinema i remembered everything including the movie story line and what i ate whilst watching the movie.
How films are "put together"
The original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV, V, and VI) told the story of Luke Skywalker, a young farmboy who became a hero in the struggle to overthrow an evil empire and had to confront one of the Empire's staunchest henchmen, Darth Vader, who held the terrible secret of his father's fate.
Produced with a budget of $11 million and released on May 25, 1977, the film earned $460 million in the United States and $314 million overseas. It was made by 20th Century Fox studio.
In 1977: the first US space shuttle was launched, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" opened in cinemas, there were major advances in consumer musical electronics, British Airways introduced a regular supersonic Concorde service between London and New York City and Elvis Presley died.
Mise En Scene (putting on stage) - is an expression used to describe the design aspects of a theatre or film production, which essentially means "visual theme" or "telling a story"—both in visually artful ways through storyboarding, cinematography and stage design, and in poetically artful ways through direction.
Characters - There are 3 main characters who are Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia. There are also three other characters who are Chewbacca, C-3po and R2 - D2. Other characters are the Stormtroopers and the snake - type creature.
Costumes - The two main male characters Luke and Han are wearing white body armour which represents them as heroes, but also they are wearing the white body armour because they are disguised as stormtroopers, Princess Leia is wearing a long white dress which represents the heroine. Chewbacca is like a huge bear which is friendly and not menacing. C-3po is a gold robot which signifies wealth and the highest standard. R2-D2 is another robot who looks high tech and is also white. The Stormtroopers are wearing white body armour which looks high tech but also similar to old fashioned armour. The snake - type creature is dark and slimy and is hidden most of the time which creates a sense of menace.
Objects - Luke, Han and the stormtroopers carry laser guns.
Setting- The first scene is set in the corridors of a space station uses low key lighting which emphasises shadows and darkness to create a sinister atmosphere. There is one area where high key lighting is used to create light at the end of the tunnel. The next scene is set in the trash/waste area where low key lighting is used to create suspense, also sombre colours are used to accentuate that something bad is going to happen.
